When to visit Italy by region?
Italy is not visited the same way in May as in August. Spring, from April to early June, remains our preferred period: the Tuscan hills turn green, Puglia already smells of fig trees, and the Etna trails can be walked without the scorching summer heat. September and October are perfect for Sicily, Sardinia and the Amalfi coast, with the sea still warm and far fewer crowds. Winter, meanwhile, is ideal for Rome, Naples, the Aeolian Islands off-season, or the Dolomites for snow lovers. In short, visiting Italy at the right time is mainly about choosing the region that fits the season, rather than the other way around.
