Visas and Administrative Formalities

Any trip to a foreign country requires preliminary steps, especially when it comes to preparing your visa and handling administrative formalities. Here are the essential points not to overlook before embarking on a trip to Italie.
Visa Requirements
Italie is part of the Schengen area. Citizens of the European Union are permitted to travel without a visa if they plan to spend a holiday in the country, unlike non-EU nationals who will need a "Schengen visa".
Documents Required for Entry to Italie
Short Stay
A citizen wishing to travel to Italie does not, in principle, require any administrative formalities if the stay does not exceed 3 months, the same applies to other European Union member citizens. Entry to the country is made simply by presenting a valid national identity card or passport at the border. Also bring your driver's license, vehicle registration, green international insurance card, and a power of attorney when traveling in a private vehicle.
Long Stay
Beyond a period of 90 days, even if residents can do without a residence permit, they must imperatively register with the municipality of residence, at the civil registry "anagraphe", by submitting their respective files. Students must provide a copy of their student card, employees a document relating to employment. A certificate of registration with health insurance will be required for unemployed persons. The registration form can be obtained from the "polizia di stato" portal website. It should be noted that it is even more important to register with the French citizens registry in Italie at the French embassy or consulate.
For Minors
A law that came into force in January 2017 stipulates the reinstatement of exit authorization from the territory for minor citizens. They must therefore carry, in addition to their identity card or passport, a form duly signed by at least one parent as well as a photocopy of an identity document of the signing parent.
